It's not always easy to determine if you or your child need therapy, as everyone's mental health and life experiences are unique. However, if you or your child are struggling with significant changes in behavior, emotions, or social interactions, therapy may be worth considering. Some signs that therapy may be beneficial include persistent feelings of sadness or anxiety, difficulty coping with stress or trauma, difficulty sleeping, changes in appetite, significant changes in academic or work performance, social withdrawal or isolation, or engaging in self-destructive behaviors. It's important to note that seeking therapy does not mean you or your child are weak, and it can be an incredibly helpful tool for improving mental health and overall well-being.
A life transition is any change or adjustment that impacts your life in a significant way. We all experience transitions throughout our lives — big and small, planned and unplanned. Transitions may be centered around something exciting, such as starting a new job or an addition to your family. Transitions may also be centered around something difficult or challenging, such as graduating, changing schools, moving.
We specialize in treating children as young as 3 years old, preteens, adolescents, and adults with trauma, self harm, sexual abuse, and grief. With children, our therapists are skilled in treating behavioral issues, ADHD, and peer-relationship skills. Counseling can be beneficial to individual and couples who are looking to strengthen their emotional connection, in all stages of their lives.
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. We can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing.

Play Therapy is the use of toys and other play materials to create changes in thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Due to a child’s brain development and the specific way children learn they are not able to engage in traditional “talk therapy” to create improvements in their struggles like adults are. Many young children have not developed the abstract reasoning abilities and verbal processing skills needed for traditional talk therapy and can be unable to communicate their inner states accurately through verbal intervention Play is their “language” and the specific ways they use the toys are their “words”. Children might use the sand tray, dolls, dramatic play costumes, puppets, or numerous other toys to help them make sense of their areas of difficulty and create insight on how to move forward. Play therapy is the intervention and mechanism of change and is significantly different than using toys to distract a child so they can talk and verbally process their difficulties.
