About Me:
Hello, my name is Jess Harris. My passion for counseling and mental health began in 2016, after navigating my own healing journey from trauma. This personal experience sparked a deep desire to provide others with the same hope and healing that helped me overcome my challenges. I have 20 years of experiences as a nanny for children ages newborn to 15 years which gave me a profound understanding of child development and family dynamics. My experiences include working with children dealing with depression, anxiety, ADHD, autism, oppositional defiant disorder, and dyslexia. Additionally, I have supported children and adolescents who have experienced trauma and those affected by domestic violence. As such, I have a deep understanding of complex and challenging cases, which have expanded my commitment to helping children and adolescents heal from traumatic events.
Therapeutic Approach:
I believe in working collaboratively with my clients because, ultimately, you are the expert in your own life. When working with children and adolescents, I incorporate a directive Adlerian Play Therapy approach or structured activities. This method provides a safe, open, and non-judgmental environment, allowing young people to express themselves through play or activities when they may not yet have the words to fully communicate their emotions. I also value the role of parents and guardians in this process, recognizing that supporting a child’s well-being is a team effort. Together, we work towards the common goal of fostering growth, healing, and positive change.

Approach to Diversity and Inclusion:
I understand the importance of being truly seen and heard as an individual, and I strive to create a safe, supportive space where everyone feels welcome. I deeply value diversity and am committed to fostering an inclusive environment for people from all walks of life. Recognizing that each person’s experiences and needs are unique, I approach every individual with openness and respect, embracing the opportunity to learn from and work with people of different backgrounds. My goal is to ensure that everyone feels understood and valued in their time with me.
It takes courage to seek support and embark on a journey of self-discovery and healing. I am honored to be a part of your therapeutic journey and look forward to helping you navigate challenges and achieve personal growth and well-being.
My private pay rate starts at $125 for individual therapy (sliding scale options available). I am In Network with Aetna, Optum, United Health Care, UMR, and Quick Trip EAP,
About me:
I’m a proud pet parent to three furbabies: a black cat named Salem, a white cat named Whiskers, and a very spoiled dog named Mollie. I grew up in a small beach town near Corpus Christi, so the beach is definitely my happy place—I try to visit as often as I can! Oh, and I have a bit of an obsession with penguins—they’re just the cutest!
