Hello! My name is Mayra Rodriguez. I am currently completing my Master’s degree at the University of North Texas in Denton with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Throughout my professional studies, my passion for helping others has only grown. I specialize in depression, anxiety, and relationship issues. I seek to understand people in wholeness and celebrate their individuality, and it is my goal to guide you on the road to self-actualization and self-acceptance. When you walk into my therapy space, I want you to feel welcomed and safe when sharing a vulnerable piece of yourself with me. As individuals, we vary widely — and I seek to understand your differences while also highlighting how we are the same. It would be my honor to hear your story.
I am equipped to support clients across their lifespan; I primarily work with children (3-11) and adults (18+). I offer individual therapy, couples therapy, family therapy, group therapy, and play therapy. No matter the circumstance, I strive to provide holistic services that will meet your unique needs. As your counselor, I will strive to develop a trust-filled foundation in order to establish a connection filled with safety, empathy, acceptance, and respect. My intention is to guide you towards your most authentic self, for we all have a brilliant spark within us. Together, we can find yours and add some kindling so you can shine brighter than ever. My goal is to support you and promote positive change as we deepen your self-understanding.
My client-led approach centers on creating a non-judgmental and safe space for you; I trust that you will guide me just as I guide you. As my client, it will be within your power to choose what self-care tools you would most prefer to utilize. It is a similar concept when I work with children; child-centered play therapy encourages the usage of expressive arts and play to flow with a child’s emotions. Toys are a child’s form of language, and I have made myself fluent. It is incredibly fun to speak! I use different interventions based on my client’s individual needs and I continue to self-discover new skills to provide the best care for you.
My philosophy is that counseling is a collaborative process in which you and I work together to navigate the vast expanse of perspective and personal interpretation. Together, we can identify a path to your ideal personal development and self-actualization. All experiences and lessons learned are unique to each person and invaluable in their own right, and it is in this fact that our core dilemmas can be resolved.
I help clients who are experiencing:
My private pay rate starts at $55 for individual therapy (sliding scale options available).
As a second-generation immigrant from the Hispanic community, I have personally felt the lack of resources and knowledge growing up within my own family. This made me intent on knowledge seeking ever since I was a child. You can find me with my nose in a book or my eyes glued to the screen as I’m researching and studying. However, I’m not all books and no play. I love music festivals and I seek to enjoy life to the fullest. Music is incredibly healing, and I utilize its resources as often as possible.I enjoy nature walks, especially involving water. With my fiancé, I enjoy many strolls along the creek and lakesides. Quality time with my cat, Gibbs, is also one of my favorite things in this world. Practicing yoga and stretching also brings me peace.
