Hello! My name is Katherine Marchant. I am a clinical intern who specializes in working with children using child-centered play therapy. When I facilitate play therapy, I provide safety to encourage your child to express themselves, learn to feel confident, limit problems behaviors, and tap into their full potential. The play-therapy room is a space for your child to express themselves freely, without fear of judgement or rejection. This space is important for all kids to experience, specifically neurodiverse kids (like kids with ADHD or Autism), to have a space to be themselves freely in a world that does not typically allow them to do so.
As a neurodivergent person, I understand that we often have to mask, or hide our authentic selves, because the world is often not accepting of our differences. It is my passion to both work with and advocate with neurodiverse individuals, including individuals with autism and ADHD. Authenticity is important to me, so as your counselor, I strive to be my authentic self with you, and I will encourage you to explore and embrace your authentic self as well.
My client focus areas include children (3+) and adults (18+). I offer individual, group, and play therapy. Whether working with kids or adults, it is my role to help you move through life’s challenges and encourage your personal growth. You are the expert on yourself, so I will meet you where you are at, and we will work together to identify and develop your desired areas of growth, development, and change.
I am a master’s student at the University of North Texas in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program on the child track. I am involved in the Rho Kappa chapter of Chi Sigma Iota and UNT Counselors for Social Justice. It is always my goal to recognize each person’s unique differences and needs, and to respect and celebrate diversity. I am committed to providing culturally sensitive and inclusive care and will strive to learn about your unique differences.
It takes courage to seek support and embark on a journey of self-discovery and healing. I am honored to be a part of your therapeutic journey and look forward to helping you navigate challenges and achieve personal growth and well-being.
I help clients who may need support with:
My private pay rate is $55 for individual therapy (sliding scale options available).
In my free time, you can find me reading in my book nook, snuggling my cats, and wedding planning! My friends describe me as goofy, caring, and patient. I have eight siblings, and I have known that I love being around and working with kids since my three younger siblings were babies.
